Back our campaign on road safety for Thornton Avenue and Kings Avenue

In just the last few months, there have been two incidents of cars crashing through a fence or wall into gardens on Thornton Avenue, two collisions at Thornton Gardens estate entrance, and repeated damage to the boundary wall at Sinclair Estate on Kings Avenue.

This cannot go on!

But Labour Lambeth just isn’t listening.  We have repeatedly raised the issue with senior officials at the Town Hall but they are driven by a ‘strategy’ devised by Labour Party councillors, which doesn’t allot any resources to our part of the Borough.

We want to see:
•    Measures to slow down vehicles on Kings Avenue especially where it meets with Thornton Road, by the Sinclair Estate
•    Changes to the mini roundabout at the junction of Telford Avenue and Thornton Avenue, so that vehicles can intersect safely and pedestrians cross easily
•    A pedestrian crossing in Thornton Avenue to help people reach local schools and Tooting Common

Now we need a big show of support from local people to make sure Lambeth’s Labour Council finally sits up and takes notice.  We shouldn’t have to wait for a serious injury or fatality before Lambeth takes action!
