Lambeth 2026 Selections
Your candidates for Vauxhall ward
We are selecting our candidates for key wards in preparation for 2026 elections to Lambeth Council.
This includes selecting candidates for your ward of Vauxhall. Note that the selectorate for each ward is Liberal Democrat members in that ward.
Vauxhall is a three-member ward.
We have accepted three nomination for this selection, whose names and nomination statements follow:
Fareed Alderechi:
“I have lived in Vauxhall for much of my adult life. As a member both of the LGBTQIA community, and as someone with mixed heritage, many of the issues are familiar to me. After our by-election last year, and now with a Labour government, I believe both the profile we were able to build together, and my background can be brought to bear to hold Labour to account on their own terms. I have experience fighting several elections, and my priorities remain helping our argument on issues like housing, whilst arguing for ward priorities, from nightlife to mental health provision.”
Alistair Ward-Boughton-Leigh:
"I'm nominating myself for the Vauxhall ward. This is an area I am familiar with having moved to north lambeth in 2019. I became more familiar with the area when I campaigned in the by-election. We fought a good campaign and met so many people.
Since then I have worked and campaigned for our party. This includes hosting pizza and politics sessions and campaigning in several areas during the general election.
I'm passionate about change with transport, housing and the environment as my top priorities. These are hugely important for Vauxhall and ensuring new developments take into account local needs."
Pedro Xavier:
"My name is Pedro Xavier, I have dual nationality Portuguese-British, I was raised in Lambeth, namely in Stockwell where I grew up, and went to School, I graduated as a teacher, and taught for some years before entering the civil service, where I worked for around six years, across various jobcentres in Lambeth, from Streatham, Brixton, and lastely Stockwell jobcentre, where I was part of a project called Lambeth action team, that helped long term unemployed back into work, through training, I was also a local education authority governor at Bishop Thomas Grant Secondary School for eight years, and was a Lambeth equality commissioner between 2016-21. Currently I own my own Firm in Vauxhall, I am also a trustee in a bilingual school, and a Special Constable with the metropolitan police, position that I held for 12 years.
I wish to stand as a candidate as I believe I could help re shape the future of our borough, through the experience that i acquired in the different environments where I worked. I stand for the values of equality, diversity, and would like to make a positive contribution."
Members of the Vauxhall ward will receive their ballot to vote in this selection immediately following the online “Meet the Candidates Q&A” on Monday 13th January at 7pm. They will have two weeks to cast their vote.
Following the completion of this ballot, unfilled spaces in our key wards will be allocated to approved candidates at the discretion of the 2025 Executive Committee.
