Lambeth 2026 Selections
Your candidates for Streatham Wells ward
We are selecting our candidates for key wards in preparation for 2026 elections to Lambeth Council.
This includes selecting candidates for your ward of Streatham Wells. Note that the selectorate for each ward is Liberal Democrat members in that ward.
Streatham Wells is a two-member ward.
We have accepted three nominations for this selection, whose names and nomination statements follow:
Judith Best:
“I am a former councillor for Streatham Wells from 2010-14.
I would love to represent this ward again as I’ve lived here for 25 years and care about my community.
I have seen the decline in the local area since Labour gained a super majority on the Council in 2014. We need more Lib Dems back to hold them to account and speak up for residents.
I would like to think I could help to restore a safe and clean neighborhood. I still have very good links with residents who have encouraged me to stand again and are also willing to get on board to help achieve this.
If I am selected I will be taking on the role full time to concentrate on what residents and tenants want to improve the area, and to campaigning on those issues."
Simon Bucknall:
"Lambeth Council exists to serve local residents.
Not the other way round.
If you’re seeking a genuine, credible voice to represent you… I’m a Dunraven and Hitherfield parent, living in Streatham Hill for 10 years and in Lambeth for 20+ years. Since 2008, a full-time, professional speaker and coach, working with people from all walks of life, including thousands of children in state secondary schools across London.
Lib Dem member since 2003, with extensive experience as a campaigner in local, county and parliamentary elections.
This thing is winnable in 2026 – so, let’s go out there and turn Streatham Wells gold."
Eloka Ikegbunam:
"I have previously been your LD candidate in 2018 and 2022. I am seeking your support to be your candidate once more. As we approach 20 years of Labour rule, we need a strong team to challenge Labour’s dominance and I hope to be part of that team. We need a strong team within Streatham Wells to ensure we have a chance of victory here in 2026. The work begins now and I hope to secure your support.
The top issue I hope to campaign on are:
- Cleaner & safer roads
- EV charge points
- Street cycle hangars
- Protecting the Common"
Members of the Streatham Wells ward will receive their ballot to vote in this selection immediately following the online “Meet the Candidates Q&A” on Wednesday 15th January at 7pm. They will have two weeks to cast their vote.
Following the completion of this ballot, unfilled spaces in our key wards will be allocated to approved candidates at the discretion of the 2025 Executive Committee.
