Lambeth 2026 Selections

Your candidates for Streatham Hill West & Thornton ward

We are selecting our candidates for key wards in preparation for 2026 elections to Lambeth Council.

This includes selecting candidates for your ward of Streatham Hill West & Thornton. Note that the selectorate for each ward is Liberal Democrat members in that ward.

Streatham Hill West & Thornton is a two-member ward.

We have accepted two nominations for this selection, whose names and nomination statements follow

Matthew Bryant:

“In 2022 I was elected to represent the ward where I have lived for the past 25 years.  Now I am coming back for more.

I am secretary of our local residents’ association and chair of governors at King Avenue Primary School. An accountant by background, I spent most of my career working in the NHS.  Within our council group I have led on finance and children’s services.

I want to continue to help residents negotiate the vagaries of Lambeth Council; promote Lib Dem values within the council; and most of all support lots of new Lib Dem councillors."

Donna Harris:

“I was privileged to be elected in 2022 and have since been part of a small but determined opposition group. I would be honoured to continue contributing to its growth, strengthening our role as a formidable opponent to Lambeth’s Labour administration, holding them to account, and providing robust scrutiny. As a councillor, I have learned the importance of listening to residents and standing up for their lived experiences, addressing issues locally while also inuencing national policy. I am committed to ensuring that Lambeth Liberal Democrats are recognised both by our community and within the National Party.”

Members of the Streatham Hill West & Thornton ward will receive their ballot to vote in this selection immediately following the online “Meet the Candidates Q&A” on Friday 24th January at 7pm. They will have two weeks to cast their vote.

Following the completion of this ballot, unfilled spaces in our key wards will be allocated to approved candidates at the discretion of the 2025 Executive Committee.
