Lambeth Parking - topping the league table for tickets and fines issued10.01.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 23rd Sep 2008
You've read the hype - now for the truth about Labour's fairer Parking Regime. Official figures disclose the true situation in Lambeth under Clobber the Motorist Labour which tries so hard to pretend they are making life easier for you. The official figures for the financial year 2007-2008 are so stark that we have no need to embellish them. So here they are: In 2007-2008
And although the number of PCN's issued across London declined from the year before the number of vehicles sent to the pound increased. Here's another fascinating statistic. Lambeth has the 2nd highest number of appeals. Nearly 80% of them are allowed and of these almost half were not contested by the Council. Labour says its new contract will concentrate on the quality of the parking tickets issued. Sounds like they've plenty of work to do. Meanwhile, tickets from its cameras rank 2nd highest in London and 79% of those that are appealed are allowed and 30% not even contested by Lambeth. And Lambeth is 4th highest in the Capital for bus lane appeals and 59% of these were allowed and 35% not even contested. Labour is raking in an astonishing £2 million a month in their orgy of tickets and fines. Just imagine how much they'd be making from motorists if they were in any way efficient?
