Lambeth Liberal Democrats

Winning for the London Borough of Lambeth

Thank you

10.44.55pm UTC (GMT +0000) Sun 7th May 2006

Thank you very much to everyone who voted Liberal Democrat on 4 May, electing Peter Truesdale, Diana Braithwaite and Gavin Dodsworth in Bishop's Ward, Andrew Sawdon, Rob Banks and Faye Gray in Oval, Darren Sanders and Angie Meader in Clapham Common, Clive Bennett, Roger Giess and Brian Palmer in St. Leonard's, June Fewtrell, Jeremy Clyne and Ashley Lumsden in Streatham Hill and Julian Heather, Sheila Clarke and Daphne Marchant in Streatham Wells.

We were of course disappointed at the results in some wards, where Labour fought a dishonest and negative campaign. Thank you very much indeed to the hard-working councillors who are departing. The Liberal Democrats are now the official opposition on Lambeth Council, with 17 seats compared to just 6 Conservatives (of whom none are in the Vauxhall or Streatham constituencies). We will be watching the Labour council very carefully - please get in touch whenever you think there is an issue that should be raised.

Very many thanks to all those who helped in the election campaign in any way, whether by delivery, canvassing, clerical work or putting up a poster. Various wards will be hosting thank you parties, at which we look forward to seeing you.

The full election results can be found on Lambeth Council's website at
