We the undersigned believe that all Lambeth Council Meetings that are open to the public should make provision for new media reporters such as tweeters and bloggers. We believe that opening up the meetings to residents and reporters covering local issues will enhance our local democracy and engage more Lambeth residents in important local issues. We call on Lambeth council to lift the ban on photography and recording re-introduced by Labour last year. We call on the council to provide space for tweeters and bloggers to work and to be able to:
* Make audio and video recordings and take photographs for publication on their sites
* Register for email updates of committee papers, minutes and agendas
* Have access to reliable free WIFI and phone and laptop charging points
Even if you've already signed this petition, you can use the printable petition sheet to collect more signatures from your friends and neighbours.
You could go door to door on your street or pass the sheet around at a local event. Good places to leave a few copies include shops, pubs, libraries, and post offices - but don't forget to collect them and send them back to us.
When complete, please return (as soon as possible) to: Lambeth Liberal Democrats, Unit 6, Hermes House, 59 Josephine Avenue, London SW2 2JZ.
