Lib Dems are demanding a £91.69 cash-back for every household in the borough
Residents deserve a £91.69 Cash-Back to help with the deepening economic crisis. That is the demand put by local Liberal Democrats to the Council as part of their Alternative Budget put before the council.
The cash-back plan heads the Opposition Budget which also includes a major investment programme totalling some £28million. Housing refurbishments, energy saving measures and a sustainability programme would be the core of this investment programme - all of which would create hundreds of new jobs here in Lambeth.
The programme also calls for Home help charges to be cut so that they would no longer be the highest in London as Labour has made them.
"Right now residents are expecting more help to tackle the economic downturn," said Cllr Ashley Lumsden, Leader of the opposition Liberal Democrats. "And we have identified £11million of money that the council is sitting on that could be returned to residents in the shape of £91.69 for every household in the borough."
"But it's only do residents need help. We should be investing in our borough, creating jobs and improving environmental sustainability. Labour just want to sit on the cash - earning as little as 2% on the on money. Liberal Democrats say this is the rainy day on which savings were meant to be spent."
